Tobacco users also sometimes use candies or mints to mask the smell of smoke. This can cause even more damage since these candies are often full of sugar which can cause even more damage.
- Limit Sodas, and Alcohol – Although these beverages contain a high level of phosphorous, which is a necessary mineral for a health mouth, too much phosphorus can deplete the body’s level of calcium. This causes dental hygiene problems such as tooth decay and gum disease. Beverages containing additives such as corn syrup and food dye can make pearly white teeth appear dull and discolored. So if you do decide to consume, make sure to do so in moderation and always remember to brush afterwards.
